Merrillville Community School Corporation will conduct a survey of students in grades 6-12 during the week of May 21, 2025. Parents and guardians will receive a letter from their child's school with details about the Indiana Youth Survey (INYS) prior to the survey date.
The survey is anonymous and does not collect individual student names. Its purpose is to identify factors related to the misuse of drugs and alcohol that could pose a challenge to student performance.
The Indiana Youth Survey (INYS) is an annual survey that assesses students' substance use, mental health, gambling, and risk and protective factors that may impact student success. The survey is anonymous and does not collect individual student names. Participating schools receive a corporation-level report of their students’ responses.
